Julio Cesar Chavez Reveals How He Helped Mike Tyson When He Was Still In Jail

Julio Cesar Chavez recently spoke with Mexican outlet ‘Un Round Mas’ about the time in which he helped out Mike Tyson when he was doing time in jail. During the time Tyson was in prison, Chavez was one of the people who enxtended a helping hand to him and offered his friendship.

The gesture he had towards Mike is likely the reason Tyson has so much respect for the Mexican legend. But also, ‘Iron Mike’ has always been a boxing historian and knows exactly who Chavez is. For many years, he was considered the best boxer in the world and he competes for the GOAT recognition.

Mike Tyson acknowledges how important Julio Cesar Chavez has been for the sport of boxing and he has deep admiration towards him. But that personal gesture was deeply moving for Mike, who really needed help at that moment. Here’s what Chavez said: “We are really good friends.

I believe Tyson is grateful towards me. When he was in jail, I bought two cars from him so he could get back on his feet. I bought a Rolls Royce and a Ferrari from him. He had some problems and he sold me those two cars for $250,00 but they were worth around $600,00. I bought both from him. That’s the reason I think he values our friendship so much.”

Imagine you are Julio Cesar Chavez and you not only get the chance to help out a fellow legend like Mike Tyson. The Mexican legend knows a thing or two about struggling with life and he’s always been gracious towards people in need.

But also, Chavez’s eyes probably lit up when he saw a chance to buy two luxurious cars from one of the hardest punchers in boxing history. Every time they see each other, both of these legends embrace and spend some quality time if they have a chance. One of the great friendships in the world of boxing.
